For some reason, when I think of summer I think of The Hollywood Squares.
I guess that's when I had the opportunity to watch it growing up when it aired at 11:30am. Here's part of a 1968 primetime episode, note this was before Paul Lynde became a regular but the wonderful Wally Cox and Charley Weaver are present. Read

Game Shows 1974 A
rundown of all the daytime network game shows from 35 summers ago, along with audio clips from actual 1974 airchecks, when they
could be found. Sadly, many of these series were erased by the networks
(especially the NBC shows) and no longer exist in any form - except
right here. Read

My World and Welcome to it My
World and Welcome To It might be considered The Simpsons of its time. Smartly-written with a superb cast of familiar faces, My World presented sitcom life enhanced by the writing and scribbling of New Yorker humorist James Thurber (who died eight years before

America's
First Lady of Comedy Carol
Burnett won the hearts of TV viewers playing the nervous klutz in
dozens of hilarious skits on The Garry Moore Show. She was
an instant hit with the home audience, one of the emerging medium's

She quickly became the de-facto star of the program. Read and watch more...

seven million when Elvis appeared on the cover of the National
Enquirer - lying embalmed in his coffin. In
the ensuing media circus surrounding Elvis' death, the Enquirer herded so many reporters into Nashville they had to buy a $100,000
fully furnished home for them all to camp out. Read
