“I remember seeing the UK version of 'The Romper Room' in the 1960's on Grampian TV.
 
"In the UK Grampian Televisison in northern Scotland produced a version, presented by Lesley Blair from 1963. She moved to the BBC in 1969 and I don’t know if the programme continued after this. In England it was produced by Anglia Television for local showing in the English East Anglia region, and was hosted by Miss Rosalyn (Thompson) from 1964 until 1976 and it then ran on for less than a year. In Northern Ireland, ITV company Ulster Television created a local production, hosted by Miss Adrienne (McGuill, now Catherwood) from 1964 to 1969 and then by Miss Helen (Madden) into the 1970’s.

"I remember on Grampian TV, towards the end of the show, the presenter would hold an opaque hand-mirror to her face. There would be a whirling pattern on the screen and what I remember as harp music, and when it stopped the presenter could see through the mirror and would say ‘I can see … (the names of children who might be watching)’. For children like me, aged five in 1963, it seemed very exciting - how we used to listen out for our names!”
