| Cap'n Mitch / Scaramento Local TV Here's the opening from a 1980 episode of Cap'n Mitch: TV Pow! was played on local kids shows across the country in the late-1970s / early-1980s; it was done with a modified Fairchild System F system with simple video games like Space Battle and Intellivision Football projected on the screen. Contestants would call into the station and 'play' the game live by saying "Pow!" when they wanted the guy at the controls to shoot. Mostly it consisted of kids saying "pow, pow, pow, pow" continuously and indiscriminately. Here's the opening for TV Powww! with Cap'n Mitch from 3/31/80.
Kevin Butler wants you to know that, "Mr. Mitchell Agruss, aka Cap'n Mitch, began his career in local kid's TV as Capt. Solomon C. Whiskers on the local New Haven, Ct. edition of The Popeye Theater back in the late 1950's and into the 1960s." Hey, just in case you're on Jeopardy one day... "I have fond memories of Captain Mitch. When I was 6 years old (1969) we lived in Roseville, CA just above Sacramento. My mom wrote in about how they pick the kids for the show. They replied back to her and My brother, sister, our next door neighbor (friend) and I appeared on the show. It was so cool. Our friend Freddie won the treasure chest . I remember when we left they gave us a cardboard treasure chest filled with Pepsi, rainbow bread and a variety of other things. I called channel 40 back in the 90's to see if they had tapes of the old shows but unfortunately back in the 60's there was no such thing as taping or recording the shows. I think it would have been great to see that now that I am older." - Sandi Mayer WHAT
