Every Marvel Cartoon Opening Theme From 1966 - Present

This video collage stitches together every Marvel Comics’ cartoon opening from the first in 1966 ,’The Marvel Superheroes’ starring members of The Avengers in solo action. These crude cartoons were made from actual comic book panels with extremely limited animation.

Next up was Hanna-Barbera’s version of The Fantastic Four in 1967, a pretty good production that followed the comic book storylines fairly closely. Designed by Alex Toth after Jack Kirby’s original character designs for Marvel.

Spider-Man, another Saturday Morning cartoon from 1967, has one of the catchiest theme songs in all of TV history. Don’t blame me if you’re humming it all day!

It was a decade later before Marvel Comics returned in animated form with The New Fantastic Four on Saturdays in 1978.

Of course, it was in the 1980s and into the 2000s that the Marvel Universe exploded across the cartoon landscape, this time with cartoons produced by Marvel Productions. This renaissance was kicked off with Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, airing on the NBC network Saturday mornings beginning in 1981, where Spidey battled bizarre super-villains with the help of Iceman and Firestar. The popularity of this show led to The Incredible Hulk in animated form on NBC in 1982.

Classics you’ll see in this video include: X-Men (1992), Silver Surfer (1998), Spider-Man Unlimited (1999), The Avengers: United They Stand (1999), X-Men Evolution (2000), Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (2003), Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes (2006), Marvel Knights: Black Panther (2010) and dozens more.
