The Middle Man (Matt Keeslar) is a stern-jawed superhero who rescues a jaded artist Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) then recruits her for his sidekick. It's based on a graphic novel and that's what this is - a modern day comic book come to life. Clever, kid friendly and kid safe, this show is clearly not aimed at my demographic but is sure to be a great deal of fun for someone 8-15 or so. It has a sweet, campy vibe and the production values are fine for a TV show. If you've got kids and they like the superhero / spy genre The Middle Man's a natural where quirky characters abound and monsters can come tearing around any corner. You'll probably get a kick out of it as well. This series comes from ABC Family which consistently produces well written, quality television with broad appeal, for instance Kyle XY and Greek. This series has that comic earnestness 1960's hits like Batman and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. shared; like those shows it's dependant on the cast to pull the ridiculousness off. Extras include cast commentaries, alternate scenes, a table read(!), gag reel, audition footage and more. No fan of this series will want to pass up this class A DVD release so Middle Man can live forever.
