Super Heroes: The Filmation Adventures
This is a collection of the second banana cartoons that ran on the Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure - The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Teen Titans, and The Justice League. (The Superboy cartoons are held up in legal limbo.) I was a big fan of these comics back in the day and was very excited they were coming to the small screen but these cartoons are very disappointing, the scripts were all generic Mighty Hercules type stories. These were all written by DC's George Kashdan who wrote Mighty Hercules and strangely had no relation to the comic books at all. Still, if you have young kids they're sure to find these cartoon shorts pleasing, there's lots of action but no violence or questionable content to worry about. The real treasure here is the documentary on Lou Scheimer on disc two, he details how these cartoons came to be made and the origins of Filmation. It's a very revealing portrait of one of TV animation's great talents and a true hero in the industry. Product
