on the title to order - huge discounts WHICH SEASON OF THE ROCKFORD FILES IS THE BEST?
If you buy only one season of Rockford Files, it should probably be season 3. This was the year David Chase (The Sopranos) became co-producer and he wrote a few of the better shows as well this year. The stories are grittier than year 2 as the series was shot almost entirely on location in and around the Southern California area. The stories often center around mobsters - look for Isaac Hayes in one funny and exciting episode. Almost every episode of season 3 is a winner. Season 4 is equally strong, maybe even better - David Chase was still co-producer and the episodes he helmed are the best of the lot. Unfortunately, the shows he didn't head up suffer from too much studio shooting and too-talky plotlines. The lighting was also boosted considerably this season; scenes are often too bright, spoiling the mood. Look for the episodes that are produced soley by Chase or the ones where his name comes up first. One standout season 4 episodes reunites Isaac Hayes and James Garner along with a wonderful star turn by Dionne Warwick who was teamed musically with Hayes at the time. That episode (#4) is on disc one. All in all another strong season for Rockford and there's a bonus episode with Tom Selleck and a feature on America's sleuths thrown in for good measure. The Rockford Files - Season Four Product Description: From identity theft to death threats, Rockford uses his experience behind bars to get an inside edge on crooks even the police can't find. Along for the ride this season are such celebrated guest stars as Robert Loggia, Larry Hagman, Rita Moreno and more. Also included is a bonus episode from Season Five, starring Tom Selleck in a role that ultimately became the foundation for the hit TV show Magnum P.I. The
Rockford Files - Season Five
The Rockford Files continued it's winning streak with season 5, if anything Jim Rockford got more rough and tumble this year. This series never got dull, never got uninteresting thanks to James Garner's laid back performance and some nicely produced scripts. The Rockford Files is a lighthearted detective drama that holds up very well today. This is one show Universal Studios got right, enjoyable for the 1970's Southern California locales alone. Great way to spend a lazy afternoon.
